The LotPost agreement

The short version

• You are renting seats, month to month. It renews on its own until you stop it, and stopping it is one press in your own account.
• Fourteen days to change your mind. If the first charge was a mistake, write to us within fourteen days of it and we send it back.
• LotPost never publishes for you. It fills the form in your own browser and stops. The last press is always a human one.

What you are buying

A seat. A seat is one person's right to run LotPost in their own browser, against their own marketplace logins, for as long as the seat is paid for. Cars are not metered and never have been: a seat covers any number of them, on both marketplaces.

Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude any sales tax we are required to add. If we change them, the change reaches an existing dealership at its next renewal and never mid-term, and we tell you before that renewal.

Billing, and what renews

Payment runs through Stripe. We do not see or store your card; Stripe holds it and we hold nothing but the result. Changing the card and finding an invoice both happen in Stripe's own portal, which your account opens.

A month is charged in advance and renews by itself on the same day each month until you stop it. Adding a seat mid-month is charged for the rest of that month; removing one takes effect at the next renewal, and the person keeps working until then.

If a charge fails, the seats stop working until it clears, and Stripe keeps trying in the meantime. Nothing is deleted while that lasts: your inventory was never on our server to delete, and the seats come back the moment the charge does.

Stopping, and getting money back

Cancel any time, from your own account. You are not asked why and there is nothing to email. The seats keep working until the end of the month you have already paid for, and then they stop.

• Fourteen days on the first charge. Write to us within fourteen days of your first payment and we refund it in full, whatever the reason and however much you used it.
• Renewals are not refundable. After that first fourteen days, a month that has started is a month that is owed. Cancel before a renewal and it never charges; cancel after one and you keep the seats to the end of it.

We can end an account too, and there are exactly two reasons: the money stopped, or section 6 was broken. If we end one for any other reason we refund the unused part of the month.

Who presses publish

You do. Every time.

LotPost is an extension in your browser. It reads your inventory from your own site, writes the listing, and types it into the marketplace form in a tab you are already signed into, at a human pace, one field at a time. Then it stops, with the form filled and the Publish button untouched.

Our server never posts anything. It cannot: it holds no marketplace login and no car. That is not a promise about our intentions, it is what the product is, and the rule that the publish press is never automated or retried is enforced in the code itself rather than left to a reviewer to notice.

Because you press publish, the listing is yours. Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji Autos each have their own rules about what may be listed, how often, and by whom, and your agreement with them is yours. LotPost helps you fill their form; it does not stand between you and them, and it cannot make a listing acceptable to them that would not have been acceptable typed by hand.

What you must not do

Short, and each line is here because it would break the product for someone else or put a marketplace account at risk.

• Do not share a seat. One seat is one person. Two people on one seat is what the extra-seat price exists for.
• Do not list cars that are not yours to list, or list them in a way a marketplace forbids.
• Do not take LotPost apart to rebuild it. Resell it, rent it out, or ship its code as part of something else, and the seat ends.
• Do not attack the service. The account server rate-limits every route it has; going around those limits, or trying to reach another dealership's account, ends the seat immediately.

Your cars stay yours

Your inventory, your photographs and the listings LotPost writes from them are yours. We claim no licence over any of it, and we could not use it if we did: none of it is on our server. What crosses the wire is named field by field in the privacy policy, and no car is among it.

LotPost itself stays ours. A seat is permission to use it, not a transfer of it.

What we do not promise

LotPost is a tool, sold as it is. We do not promise it is never unavailable, that a marketplace will not change its form tomorrow, or that a listing will sell a car.

A marketplace form changing is the ordinary weather of this product, and when one does, LotPost stops rather than filling the wrong box: a run that cannot find a field says which field and types nothing. Fixing it is our job and we do it, but a form change is not a failure to deliver.

What we owe if something goes wrong is the money you paid us for the month it went wrong in. Not lost sales, not a listing that was taken down, not a marketplace account someone else's rules closed. Nothing in this section takes away a right Ontario consumer law gives you and does not let us take away.

The law that applies

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. The courts of Ontario are where a dispute goes.

If we change these terms, the changed page is published here with a new date at the top, and a change that matters to you reaches you before your next renewal. Carrying on after that is how a change is accepted. If a court finds one line of this unenforceable, the rest of it stands.
